  • Introduction

They were created as a reference: Great sound, very natural, clear and focused with nice designed.

The best monitoring system in this price range !

Combinated with the PRO 10S base transmitter, the Pro Ribbon 5 allows you create a perfectly adapted environment and a high sound distribution.

“If it came down to a choice between ribbon or dome tweeters, the ribbon tweeters would always get my vote, but they cost too much, so the technology never attracted much interest; only a privileged few could enjoy their extraordinary acoustic qualities.

Today PRODIPE have their PRO RIBBON 5 and PRO RIBBON 8 on offer, both of which I’ve tested and both of which are real success stories.

Once again Prodipe have managed to create top class equipment at incredible prices.”

    Ludovic Lanen, Sound engineer

To ensure reliability and strength, Prodipe has selected very high quality components:

    • The woofers are in Kevlar honeycomb weave, combining a dynamic flexibility with an exceptional resistance. A stretched rubber membrane provides the attachment to the speaker box, guaranteeing strength and reliability.
    • All the magnetic elements are immersed in ferrofluid to improve the sound quality at high frequencies.
    • The transducer magnets are shielded by anodized steel covers and switch from one transducer to another via an active filter.
    • The speaker casing is made of high density wood to give a consistent sound.
    • The amp card is in aluminum to optimize how the heat is distributed when the monitors are used for long periods.

The design has been carefully considered for optimum use:

    • The bass reflex vent is at the front for improved decompression on the bass response. This means that you can place the speaker wherever you like.
    • There are ample connectors for an all-round use: XLR or TRS 6.35 Jack for a symmetrical connection and a Cinch socket for the asymmetrical connection.
    • Compact and elegant lines, carefully finished exterior.
    • The design of the crossover circuit lets the high and low frequencies work at their extreme settings without distorting the sound.

"I checked out plenty of speakers, but I eventually went for the Prodipe Ribbon 8 because the ribbon tweeter, in combination with a high quality woofer, gave a perfect sound from bass to treble.

My decision was based on the brand’s expertise and attitude, but if you factor in the price as well, these speakers are definitely worth having.

Congratulations to Prodipe for making this quality at this price. Prodipe have become a key player in the pro audio world.”

    Why Ribbon Monitors ?

Compared to dome tweeters, either in metal, plastic or fabric, ribbon tweeters have the advantage of a much lower mass. The results are greater acceleration; then you can better reproduce transitions and high frequencies, and a more natural rendition for this end of the spectrum. Moreover, an improved performance in the high range leads to a better linkup with the speaker that does the other end of the spectrum.

These extras make the monitors with a ribbon tweeter especially useful during acoustical music recordings where considerations of timbre and space are paramount.
