 The KAP Drêche is now one of the finest expressions of this vision. 

Born from the combination of Fred KOPO’s expertise and PRODIPE’s capacity for innovation, it has been designed to bring the feel, musicality and emotion of a master-crafted instrument to a much wider audience.

The coming together of two complementary worlds: the aim is not to replicate a handcrafted guitar, but to preserve its essential qualities: musicality, balance, sensitivity and projection.

 Under the guidance of Fred KOPO for all aspects of instrument-making and acoustics, PRODIPE has developed manufacturing processes that make this vision accessible to a wider range of musicians.

When I discovered ‘Prodipe’, this superb brand with a completely offbeat, innovative and “unique” positioning in today’s guitar market, I very quickly realised that, although we’d arrived at it by different paths, we shared the same vision of the modern musical instrument: a balance between tradition and innovation, simplicity and relevance! A few professionals or passionate amateurs may be able to afford to buy one of my instruments, but for the general public, this is naturally out of the question. Today, PRODIPE gives me the opportunity to make my work accessible to as many people as possible, and I wholeheartedly embrace this philosophy…

Its projection fills the space with astonishing ease. The notes seem to linger longer, carried by a multitude of harmonics that enrich every nuance of the playing.

A rare sensation, the result of several years of research, prototyping, acoustic measurements and comparative listening sessions.

The Art of the Soundboard

Whilst the Kap Drêche explores new avenues of design, it remains deeply faithful to the fundamentals of fine acoustic guitar-making.

For one thing remains clear: the sound of a great guitar stems first and foremost from its soundboard.

Under the guidance of Fred KOPO, particularly thorough work has been carried out on the top and its bracing to achieve the best possible balance between dynamics, expressiveness and playing comfort. After numerous trials and comparisons, the choice fell on a carefully selected solid cedar top. Prised for generations by luthiers worldwide, cedar is renowned for its warmth, harmonic richness and ability to express itself fully from the very first notes.

Combined with a bracing system specifically developed for the KAP project, this top plays a direct role in shaping the instrument’s tonal character.

A stunning design featuring a compact body with a shortened scale length, whose shape and dimensions are based on the highly acclaimed ‘Dublin’ model created by the French luthier Fred Kopo.

Although moulded, the body is not round and thus retains the contours of a traditional guitar, making it easy to play whether sitting or standing.

A bolt-on neck that has no effect whatsoever on the sound or reliability.

In designing this unique model, we chose to optimise assembly time in order to produce a guitar that is ‘made in France’ yet remains affordable to as many people as possible. A specialised neck was therefore conceived, designed and then tested to ensure an optimal bolt-on construction without compromising the sound or reliability in any way. 

A new material. A new voice. Spent grain becomes music.

To make a guitar inspired by the standards of artisanal lutherie accessible, PRODIPE has developed a unique design combining a solid cedar top with a single-piece, bio-based body designed specifically for the project.

The KAP Drêche is therefore also made from a material derived from the recycling of brewers’ spent grain – the residue from cereals (mainly barley) left over after beer brewing – which is processed using an innovative method. A material that combines acoustic performance, stability and environmental responsibility, paving the way for the instrument-making of the future.

Each guitar is assembled, individually adjusted, inspected and prepared in the PRODIPE workshops before dispatch. This rigorous process ensures that every instrument delivers the level of quality, playing comfort and musicality expected by musicians.

The AP22 electro-acoustic system

For the Electro version, the KAP Drêche features the exclusive AP22 system developed by PRODIPE under the guidance of sound engineer Ludovic LANEN.

Designed to preserve the instrument’s full acoustic character, the AP22 combines a high-definition piezo sensor with two soundboard sensors capable of naturally reproducing the vibrations and resonances of the body.

Thanks to its exclusive Blend control, the musician can precisely adjust the balance between clarity, warmth and naturalness.

The result is a particularly faithful sound reproduction, equally impressive on stage and in the studio.

SAVAREZ: French excellence right down to the very tips of the strings

Because a great guitar deserves great strings, the KAP Drêche comes fitted with SAVAREZ strings as standard.

A global benchmark for French-made strings, SAVAREZ perfectly complements the instrument’s tonal character, bringing out its dynamics, balance and harmonic richness.

An award-winning innovation

Unveiled at the Paris Guitar Festival, the KAP Drêche immediately caught the jury’s attention with its original design and the quality of its acoustic performance.

In 2025, it was awarded the Innovation Prize, recognising a new vision for the acoustic guitar:
