Clément Petit is a French cellist, composer and producer with an eclectic background. Born in a working-class Parisian suburb, he grew up in contact with Afro-American, Caribbean and electronic music before turning to improvisation and contemporary music. Trained at the American School of Modern Music and the Jazz Department of the CNR d'Aubervilliers/La Courneuve, he obtained his diplomas in 2004 and 2007. He has developed an original style of playing, seeking to reinvent his instrument and break down the barriers between musical genres. Fascinated by the diversity of sounds and artistic encounters, he is constantly collaborating and exploring different formats. Through his work as a musician and as a composer-director, he claims an approach without frontiers, favouring the interaction of styles.
