Ellis Hall, born in 1951, is an American singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist who has been blind since the age of 18. Nicknamed "The Ambassador of Soul", he is known for his powerful voice (5 octaves) and his mastery of the piano, guitar, bass, drums and Hammond organ. A former member of the group Tower of Power, he has collaborated with Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and George Benson. He has written over 4,000 songs, mixing soul, funk, gospel and jazz. He has performed with major symphony orchestras in tribute concerts to Ray Charles and Motown. Hall has also contributed to film soundtracks such as Chicken Run, Bruce Almighty and Catch Me If You Can. In 2025, he released the album What!!!! In The World with George Whitty. He is committed to humanitarian causes through charitable music projects. He remains a respected figure in contemporary soul music.
