"Georges Blumenfeld is a French sound engineer and producer who founded Studio Marcadet in 1979, based in Saint-Denis. Affectionately nicknamed "Blum", he has remained at the helm of this legendary French studio ever since its inception.
Over the decades, Studio Marcadet has played host to an impressive range of artists. Some of the biggest names in French chanson have performed here, including Françoise Hardy, France Gall, Renaud, Sylvie Vartan, Serge Gainsbourg, Eddy Mitchell, Johnny Hallyday, Georges Brassens and Véronique Sanson, as well as international artists such as George Michael, Sade, Kenny Rogers, Stevie Wonder and Bryan Ferry.
Several landmark albums have been recorded or mixed here, including Here's to Future Days (1985) by the Thompson Twins, Scène de vie (1990) by Patricia Kaas, Café Atlantico (1999) by Cesária Évora, and several projects by Félix Wazekwa (Bonjour Monsieur, Sponsor, Signature). Other notable collaborations include Marc Lavoine (Fabriqué, Les Amours du dimanche), Mama Béa (Violemment la tendresse), and mixing and recording sessions for Céline Dion, Jeanne Mas, Jeanne Manson, Desireless and Stéphanie de Monaco.
A place of passion and fidelity to analogue sound, Studio Marcadet remains attached to a tradition of sound craftsmanship that has spanned several musical eras. Thanks to its technical rigour and its history, it is considered to be one of the discreet temples of recording in France"
