Sound engineer for Christine and the Queens, Liz Cherhal, Six Huit, Rockline, Street Chamaan, Mask Ha Gazh...
Born in 1969 in Alençon, Jean-François Moreau grew up in Nantes and developed a passion for sound technology at an early age. At the age of 14, he built his first mixing console by assembling and modifying various diagrams he found in specialist magazines.
While studying audiovisual technology, he spent time at the Sarabande recording studio in Nantes, a franchise of the Studios du Chesnay. Upon completing his studies, he was hired as an assistant at this studio and quickly found himself behind the console, recording and mixing various bands, which led him to finalise certain projects in Paris at prestigious studios such as the Studios de la Grande Armée. Upon his return, he worked on various projects in Paris before returning to Nantes, having decided that what he really wanted to do now was to use his experience to help young local talent.
In 1991, he carried out an acoustic study, built and wired the Crescendo studio with the support of François Teillard, and this project gave rise to some great productions: Wild West, Michel Deshays, Philippe Katerine, Anna Karina, Olivier Gann, Muriel Robin and Pierre Palmade, 5.1 mixing of the music for Didier Bourdon's film "L'Extra-Terrestre", Les Jambons, Bouskidou, Prajna, Johanna Manchec (backing singer for Mylène Farmer and Johnny Hallyday), and more.
He mixed the music for the film Les Rois mages by Les Inconnus at Studio Méga.
Also a musician, he worked on the arrangements and production of several albums ranging from heavy metal to French chanson (Wild West, Olivier Gann, Jean-Marie Vivier, etc.).
At the same time, he also followed bands on tour (EV, Les Jambons, Soul Family) and provided sound for the Zénith de France with the band Ternil, whose work he recorded and mixed for Touchstone. He crossed the Atlantic several times to follow the artists who trusted him.
In 2005, he teamed up with Eric Chauvière, producer of the bands Elmer Food Beat and Orange Blossom, among others. He redesigned the acoustics of the recording studio and brought his experience as an electronics engineer to optimise the studio's equipment and ensure its maintenance. He also recorded and mixed projects such as the 5.1 live album by the band Wild West, the Littles Rabbits, Fiona Gélin, Olivier Gann, YMH, Albert Magister, Rudy Roberts, Bernie Hopman, and others.
A few years later, he decided to create his own workspace, a studio dedicated to mixing and mastering. He recorded in various studios in the Nantes region and mixed the projects he was working on in his own studio (Christine and the Queens, Liz Cherhal, Six Huit, Rockline, Street Chamaan, Mask Ha Gazh, etc.).
Today, he works remotely via the internet and has produced and mixed, for example, the album Touch with Bruno Pelletier (Notre Dame de Paris). He mixes artists from Congo (Karel) and Madagascar (Paskéro). He recently toured with Liz Cherhal, whose latest album, "L'alliance", signed with Sony, he co-produced, recorded and mixed. He is currently on the road with the band Uk on the Rocks, personally endorsed by the microphone brand Prodipe, which he chose to provide sound for the band's string quartet.
In his rare moments of free time, he designs and manufactures peripherals at the request of bands (Dolly, Dionysos, etc.) and maintains studio equipment in the Brittany region (Arpège, Batiskaf, Tagada Jones studio).
He also trains sound technicians and stage managers as a sound consultant at the "Staff" professional training centre, endeavouring to pass on the skills and values that are important to him.
